Now entering its fourth year, CTAA’s Small Urban Network (SUN) Conference heads west to Flagstaff, Ariz., as we again bring together executives from small urban transit systems to network, share innovations and establish policy objectives and strategy. Our 2018 SUN Conference theme reinforces the elements that our attendees have told us they value most in this event: Optimizing Networking, Sharing Innovation and Advancing Policy.
This year’s Conference – Aug. 8-10 – will be held at the Little America Hotel, Flagstaff, adding a lodge-style retreat setting to format of two full days of concepts and connections among peers. And our choice of destination further reflects our past attendees’ preference to visit a small-urban area like their own, one served by a vibrant and responsive transit network. The Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority (NAIPTA) – and its General Manager, Jeff Meilbeck, a founding member of CTAA’s SUN and currently a member of CTAA’s Board of Directors – are excited to host their peers from across the county and show off their system that transports more than 2 million riders each year.
While we’re still putting the finishing touches on the full agenda for the conference, a preliminary agenda is available (PDF). Our 2018 SUN Conference will again feature the same social and networking opportunities that have been the signature of our past conferences, along with peer-led presentations highlighting innovative ideas and an extensive, topic-based discussion period. Stay tuned for the formal agenda in early summer.
