Active Transportation First/Last Mile to Transit

January 29, 2020 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

You are invited to attend an Active Transportation Resource Center (ATRC) webinar for an overview of first/last mile (FLM) active transportation connections to transit. The goal of this webinar is to spur attendees to consider these types of projects in the upcoming ATP funding cycles. FLM projects encourage increased walking and bicycling in connection with public transit use, and are recognized as environmental and health benefit multipliers.

In addition to the overview of these type of projects, the webinar will highlight State support for this work, including Caltrans commitment to integrating access to transit, examples from the California High Speed Rail Authority’s efforts in this arena, and how LA Metro uses planning and community engagement techniques (with an equity lens) to arrive at FLM projects.

• Victoria Custodio, ATRC NI Technical Assistance Lead, Safe and Active Communities Branch, California Department of Public Health (Facilitator)

• Shannon Simonds, Regional Rail & Transit Coordinator – Northern California Division of Rail & Mass Transportation, Caltrans.

• Jacob Lieb, Senior Director, First/Last Mile Countywide Planning and Development Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
